Joy Rhodes is a Ph.D. student in Mathematics and Science Education at Middle Tennessee State University, where she is also pursuing a Master of Science in Mathematics. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Educational Services with an emphasis in health care from the University of Memphis.
Her professional experience includes teaching mathematics and science, working in book publishing, and leading a learning community focused on supporting tutors, students, and parents.
Joy is a dedicated educator committed to improving teaching practices and enhancing learners’ experiences across educational contexts. Her research examines how students learn to write mathematical proofs, with particular attention to the cognitive and affective dimensions of that process. Through her work with ACT-STEM, she seeks to support educators in strengthening not only their instructional practices but also the cultures of teaching and learning within their communities
